Fizika Lab: free physics experiments for your phone
Fizika Lab (ፊዚካ ላብ) is a free physics laboratory for Ethiopian secondary-school students in Grades 9 to 12. Run 24 interactive experiments and simulations in mechanics, waves, heat, electricity and optics, each matched to a unit in the new-curriculum textbooks.
It works on basic Android phones, works offline after your first visit, and is available in English and Amharic. No account, no ads, no cost.

Mechanics
- Momentum and collisions: Crash two carts together and watch what changes and what stays the same.
- Projectile motion: Launch a ball at any speed and angle and see why its path is a parabola.
- Kicked ball: energy: Kick a ball and follow its kinetic energy turning into height and back.
- Motion graphs: Drive a car along a track and watch its position, velocity and acceleration graphs draw themselves.
- Free fall: Drop two objects side by side, with and without air, and find their terminal speeds.
- Force, mass and acceleration: Push two carts with forces you choose and compare their accelerations.
- Friction on a ramp: Tilt a ramp until the block slips, and see the forces on it.
- Energy on a track: Shape a track and see that a rolling ball can never climb higher than it started.
- Levers and balance: Balance masses on a lever and discover the principle of moments.
- Circular motion: Swing a puck in a circle, see which way it accelerates, then cut the string.
Waves and oscillations
- Pendulum and energy: Swing a pendulum and watch energy flow between motion and height.
- Waves on a string: Send pulses down a rope, watch them pass through each other, and tune standing waves.
- Mass on a spring: Stretch a spring, let go, and time the oscillation as energy swaps between motion and the spring.
- Sound waves: See air layers crowd and spread as sound travels, clap to measure an echo, and find the notes a tube resonates at.
Heat and thermal physics
- Particles in a gas: Heat a box of gas particles and measure the pressure on the walls.
- Heat flow: Join a hot block and a cold block with a metal bar and watch them reach the same temperature.
Electricity and magnetism
- Electric circuits: Wire up batteries, bulbs and resistors and measure the current and voltage.
- Charges and fields: Place and drag charges, map their field lines and potential, and release a test charge.
- Charges push and pull: Let two charged balls go and watch like charges fly apart and opposite charges crash together.
- Magnetic fields: Explore the field around a magnet, a wire and a coil with a compass.
- Magnets push and pull: Put two magnets on carts and watch them snap together or push each other away.
- Electromagnetic induction: Move a magnet through a coil and see when current is induced.
Optics
- Reflection and refraction: Shine a laser into water, glass and diamond and find the critical angle.
- Lenses and images: Move an object near a lens and trace the rays that form its image.
